Feeling Letters

Listless slumber strikes upon me notions of
a sun’s demise
microscopic entities, black holes
dotted above pillars,
archaic language word builders.

Like trees blowing here
leave rustling, falling here
leftovers remain.

Psychopathic tendency arouses
my soul,
a meta-me-phoric pillar erected
staged for an entrance,
heart-throbbing inspiration, tension.

Pulsating rockets
fly into super suctions
starting birth anew.

Whinnying winds exhaled
wordless air,
derived of meaning in itself
interpreted with ease, tears cried
dripping onto writer’s canvas, more dotted eyes.

A Dream

A new
this is what comes upon,
creeping slowly out of, our hearts.
A sweet bile, seeping,
our land.

A Horrid Love

Simplicity is the one thing that I know not to be true when thinking about this one girl. You know, girls really are horrible. No, let me reconsider that last statement; girls are difficult, which in turn makes them horrible. So in short, I know this one, horrible girl.

I know her as the wake up call at 10 a.m. while I’m still in bed, thinking about the previous night on the phone with her. It was a wonderful night. Not because of what she told me, or how helpless she made me feel on the phone when she said that she wished she could have me at that very moment. No, it was wonderful because I heard her voice on the other end of the phone, one word after another, penetrating my ears, and entering my brain into signals that could be described as nothing more than wonderful noises from a wonderfully, horrible person.

I see this girl in the screen during internet chat as a horribly, good example of those people you meet a year down the road, to realize that your life is turning into what can be told as a tale similar to “You’ve Got Mail.” I’m Hanks, and she’s Ryan…Meg Ryan. She is the girl I’ve waited for all my life, but then I find out that she’s just plain horrible. That laugh that she has is horrible! I melt upon the first giggle I hear.

I feel this girl in my dreams…as a sensational gust of air, revitalizing my body with new life. She is horrible because she doesn’t like me when I like her. She is that lusting flytrap awaiting my first move to have a taste of her succulent nectar—her glossy lips screaming for me to come and enter. She is horrible because she loves me and I love her.

I can’t comprehend the burden I feel bearing down on my shoulders everyday that I spend without her. Words are not enough, nor are the lively conversations, which makes us but a few inches apart! I love this horribly, beautiful girl!

If things were as simple as 1-2-3, I would:

One: Tell her I love her, and make her know

Two: Kiss her and make her show…that she loves me too, (That being Three)

Then all could be well, as our hearts would swell with warm delight of our newfound course to life. Simplicity cannot exist with girls, so don’t even try. So long as I live, this I know, and this I tell, don’t try, but never give up until you die. Just do, and everything will fall into place for you. If my love, my soul, my horrible girl that I love so, is reading, hearing, seeing, feeling, or disagreeing with this poem just know, I love you, you one-of-a-kind, horrible girl. And this poem is for you…

Ted E. Recio currently attends Grinnell College in Iowa, but grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is an English and Philosophy major "seeking a niche in the hypocritical social arena we call America—hopefully in writing." Recio says: "Through written, spoken and performed word/art, I plan to (as cliché as this may sound) make a difference. I’m a bitter person. I’m an apathetic individual when it comes to nonsense like politics. I’m a hopeless romantic. But above all else, I consider myself a human being."
