Chicago Poetry News: Click On Headlines .
Once a month, usually on the third Saturday, Vito Carli hosts a poetry open mic with featured poets at Cafe Mestizo, 1738 W. 18th Street, in Pilsen. It's great to see that Vito has found a wonderful new home for his open mic after the closure of the Mercury Cafe on Chicago Ave.

On Saturday, April 16, Vito took to the stage to host a National Poetry Month extravaganza with four features and a great line up of open mic'ers.

Sheila Donovan, whose work appears in the upcoming Poetry Cram 11 that will be released on April 30 at the poetry fest, takes the Cafe Mestizo stage.

Annabelle Echo shares her poetry and drawings for the large poetry month crowd at Cafe Mestizo.

Kenneth Corrigan of 1990s Bookseller's Row fame shares some work.

Poet Kim Berez comes out to Cafe Mestizo to perform a rare full length feature set.

Shontay Luna found out about Cafe Mestizo on Facebook. Remember, you can friend "Chicago Poetry" and keep up to date with additions to this site.

Cafe Mestizo is an all ages poetry open mic.

Featured poet Luis Humberto Valadez gives an energetic performance at Cafe Mestizo.

Stella Vinitchi Radulescu reads from her new book all seeds & blues. I'd have to agree with this press release:

"The poems of all seeds & blues by Stella Vinitchi Radulescu are nimble, stepping lightly but with assurance over their subjects, rendering their subtle colors and emotional shades with aplomb.

Praise for all seeds & blues

“Stella Radulescu’s poems are rich in connotations, metaphysically profound in some great unlocatable fashion. Surreal, ethereal, some of the poems enact ghostly things, and a very powerful world view glitters and solidifies... It’s a dark poetry shining with the ecstasy of the imagination let loose, a triumph of being, a war against banality.”—David Dodd Lee

“Radulescu is skeptical, but unrelenting, in her pursuit of mystery. In her unrelentingness, she reminds me of the 17th century Metaphysical poets, while stylistically, she is clearly a descendent of the Surrealists and Modernists. She has melded disparate traditions seamlessly in her poetry, and the precise mixture of elements in her work is perhaps unique in American poetry, and our poetry is richer for it.” —Luke Hankins, Asheville Poetry Review
