Chicago Poetry Photos .
On Saturday, October 23, 2010, some of the most talented poets in Chicago came out to Cafe Ballou, 939 N. Western Ave, to join in the ChicagoPoetry.com sponsored Night Of The Living Poets. It turned out to be one of the strangest, weirdest, most entertaining poetry events of the year. I had the pleasure of hosting 16 poets who each read five minutes of their creepiest work. Here are some photos from the event.

Night Of The Living Poets was the one and only poetry show in which I sported a mohawk.

Anna Husain was a delightful witch, throwing bags of candy into the audience and supplying the event with prizes that were awarded to poets for the weirdest poetry and the best costumes.

One of the highlights of the evening was a performance by Jacqueline Harris as Freddy Krugar's little sister.

Some of the poets could hardly be recognized in their get ups. Here, Sheila Donovan reads about goblins and ghouls.

Marianne Schaefer joins in on the Halloween festivities at Cafe Ballou before she heads across town for her second feature for the evening at the Beast Women show.

Lorraine Harrell hits the stage in full costume to share some work with ChicagoPoetry.com's eclectic reading series.

Jacqui Wolk sports a purple bat and skeleton gloves in front of a standing room only crowd.

Andrea Change accepts her Orange Skeleton Award for her spooky performance.

Also on the roster of featured poets: Luis Pelayo, Jose Bono, Pete Dederik, Robin Fine, GPA, Cathleen Shcnadelmeier, Josephine Lipuma and Pamela Miller.

ChicagoPoetry.com's poetry events at Cafe Ballou will continue, details soon to be announced. We will also be doing a Cram 10 release reading at Ballou on Saturday, January 15, 2011. If you are interested in submitting poetry for possible publication in Cram 10, click here.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Cafe Ballou on the night of the full moon for a truly scary and funny poetry extravaganza. Your support is much appreciated.
