Calendar of Venues .

I have never actually been officially introduced to Adam Hart. He seems like an okay guy and he’s also publishing a pretty cool online zine called Apparatus. I’ve run into him a few times but he’s never come up to me and said, “Hi there, I’m Adam” and nobody else has ever said "Have you met Adam?". It’s like he’s scared of me or something. I rarely see this dude without Kurt Heintz so I’m assuming they are an item, which would explain a lot. You see, Kurt and clan have been talking shit about me for ten years, so I’m assuming that’s all Adam knows about me: shit. You know, we all have shit in our lives, but if someone constantly brings up the shit and ignores the good stuff, then that person is full of shit. Well, here I go again—every time I call attention to how Kurt Heintz ruins relationships for me before they even have a chance to start, his clan gets together and they start squawking like the chickens when the fox walks into the house and they accuse ME of attacking Kurt. This is the way it goes. Kurt plays his mind games, I complain, his friends accuse me of being a bully and around and around in circles it goes. Like I said, this crap has been going on for ten years, an entire fucking decade, for so God damned long now I don’t even remember what it’s even about. Apparently I should be banned from the internet because I dare to express my opinion, according to the Kurt Heintz clan. Just wait and see: one of them will twist what I'm saying right here around and soon someone will accuse me of attacking Adam Hart. If I don't bring it up to the world Kurt goes unchecked and continues to intentionally fuck things up for me; and if I do bring it up, like I'm doing now, Kurt gains sympathy because the big bad wolf CJ is biting at him. It's a catch 22. Arrrggggh! I'm so FUCKING SICK AND TIRED OF IT!!!!!! (Oh, yeah, and if I curse, write in all caps and use exclamation points, I have an anger problem and I'm a psycho and I shouldn't be allowed to report the poetry news so boycott me, sabotage my projects and tell all sorts of lies about me, because that's so much nicer than using the word cunt.)

So, this is a shout out to Adam. Don’t believe the hype! I don’t bite.

Anyway, Adam’s going to be on Michael’s show this Sunday . . .

On Sunday, October 18th, 2009, Apparatus Magazine Publisher / Editor Adam W. Hart will guest host the Wordslingers Radio Show, from 8-9 PM CST, broadcasting on WLUW 88.7 FM, which reaches about five blocks so stream it live on www.wluw.org.

Following up on the Hitchcock theme of Vol. 1 Issue 4 of Apparatus Magazine – “MacGuffin & Red Herring” – Hart will have three guests on the radio show to talk about the role that poetry and fiction plays in addressing societal fears. The show will include readings by each of the guests, as well as discussion about the roles poetry and fiction play in our everyday lives.

Guests for the show will include:

Emily Rose Kahn-Sheahan. Kahn-Sheahan is a Chicago poet, board member of Chicago Slam Works, and a collective member of Mental Graffiti. Kahn-Sheahan has been a Chair of Poetry for the Bucktown Arts Festival, a Volunteer Coordinator/Organizer for the 2009 Louder Than a Bomb teen poetry slam, the 2009 Green Mill Women's Slam Champion, and is currently a Vox Ferus resident poet. Her first book is “Cigarette Love Songs and Nicotine Kisses“ (Cross+Roads Press, 2004).

Darwyn Jones. Jones is a fiction writer work has recently appeared in "SIN: A Deadly Anthology," "Grimm and Grimmer: Dark Tales for Dark Times," and the graphic zine The Dreaded Biscuits. Jones has appeared in various reading series throughout Chicago, including RUI (Reading Under the Influence), Homolatte, 2nd Story and Prose, Poetry and Pints.

Donna Vorreyer. Vorreyer is a poet and middle school teacher from the Chicago suburbs. Her work has appeared in many print and online journals including New York Quarterly, Apparatus Magazine, Boxcar Poetry Review, Cider Press Review, After Hours, and Autumn Sky Poetry. Her poetry has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and this year, her poem "Misconception" has been nominated for a Best of the Net award. Vorreyer has participated in the Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic competition at Guild Complex and was a featured reader at Woman Made Gallery in February for the humor reading "And You Think That's Funny?"

Note: Why doesn't CJ Laity just report the poetry news like a good boy; why does he always have to inject his opinions into the mix? Because it's like that, and that's the way it is.WARNING! Do not click on the above headline if you don't want to witness a Chicagoan acting like a Chicagoan.
